Recently i had the pleasure of viewing the new movie "Star Trek".
As a fan of the original series and movies, i was excited to see this new interpretation. One thing is for sure, this is not the Star Trek of old. Although in some ways it is just like the original series, in many other ways the movie is all its own creation.
Its the same characters although they are all younger versions of them selves. Its also the same ship but now its the new shiny version of the enterprise.
What i liked: The visuals, some of the scenes are down right amazing. Its very pretty and bright. The enterprise just looks cool and i loved the way they upgraded it without taking away the original concept.
Bones, and Scotty: Scotty is downright funny and Bones was simply spot on, i loved Karl Urban's Bones.
What I'm not sold on: Kirk and Spock, the new actors both gave different spins on the characters. I buy their chemistry together but i don't know how i feel about the way Kirk and Spock were presented.
What i didn't like: The story, too confusing. I'm still not really sure what the hell was going on. Hopefully they will explain it better in the sequel.
Overall the movie is worth seeing. New fans will probably like it better then i did because i just couldn't stop comparing the movie to its parent material. Its visually amazing and very funny in places. Its not great but its a lot of fun to ooh and ahh at.

Nice review. Now I want to see it since I love Star Trek. I never really saw all the other movies when they first came out. Nice review.

I really enjoyed the new Star Trek movie and it's made me a fan of Star Trek again. I use to watch Star Trek when I was little and I did watch most of the movies but I didn't keep up with it. I thought the visual effects were beautiful, I like the interior of the Enterprise too.
It was good to see original Spock, it was a highlight of the movie for me. I also enjoyed learning more about Spock's upbringing.

Delysia, I love Star Trek and I too didn't keep up with the movies either. I am sorry that I didn't see all the movies. I am going to have to try and watch the movies and then see this one. I just need the time and money to see it.
