Well I saw HBP at midnight and I have to say it wasn't what I expected. I have heard some other opinions about the movie and I have to say that I felt the same way when I left the theater. I left wanting more. I really can't explain it. I am not saying that it was bad just that I think I expected more.
The actors did a fantastic job. Tom Felton played his part exceptionally well. Rupert had you laughing so much. I actually thought it was a comedy at first. Alan Rickman just makes me love Snape even more. I don't want to give any spoilers away just yet in case some of you haven't seen it.
Beware for spoilers in the posts that follow. This is to start a discussion about the movie and how you felt about it.

Yay am the first one to comment Monica lol (I can't wait 5 days sorry prob forget it all). I have just come back from seeing the film (Weds 15th July) I saw it at 9 pm (My Time). I thought the film was a bit rushed particularly towards the end. I was like where this or wheres that. But it was worth sitting there for 2 hrs and 33 mins.It was not what i expected either (SPOILERS TO FOLLOW):
I don't think the start with Harry and Dumbledore at the Ministry carried over from Order of the Phoenix was needed that was a waste of a scene. I loved the wand Vigil I cried. I expected there to be a Funeral. This is the film where you see Snape being good. I like him alot more now. Ron was just hilarious. Hermione was funny but i felt sorry for her. Lavender was just stupid she shouldn't of been in the film at all she was just OTT. My heart went out for Draco even though he had the Dark Mark i felt sorry for him. I didn't notice Robert Knox's Charactor. They shouldn't of put in at the end that they weren't going back to Hogwarts. What will happen to the Weasley's House now that it has been burnt down?. Luna was so funny. I have to Say EVERYONE in the Cinema excluding me Jumped when the Inferi came out of the water.
There was stilll alot more that could of been included in the film. But overall it was brilliant i loved it can't wait for it to come out on DVD in December. Was worth the eight Month wait. I am looking forward to Deathly Hallows now as it's the last film. I hope in the two parter alot will be explained and questions answered.

Wow you liked it and I didn't. I left the movie feeling blah. I love this book and was expecting the same feeling with the movie. I felt that they toned down the darkness of this book way too much. This movie only had a rating of PG when OOthp had a PG13. I think they should have included a lot more of the adventure and fighting since a war is what happens in the last book. My fear is that they are more concerned with getting kids aged 8-11 into the movie then actually producing a movie equal to the book.
I think they should have had Harry at the Dursley's stating about him having to stay there next summer for a month since that is when he becomes a man. I would have loved to have seen the Dursley's reactions. I wanted to see the funeral because Dmbledore was such a beloved character in the wizarding community. The part with the wands just made me cry more.
The scenes with all the love stricken teens was over the top. I mean for all of them. I know it was in the book I just felt that is what this movie was trying to convey and not about the impending war between good and evil. This is the movie where you start to wonder about Snape and they did a good job with that. I do think that the fight at the end of the movie between Harry and Snape could have been better. That is where Snape keeps telling Harry that he needs to learn to do non verbal spells and that wasn't touched on at all. I also wanted to see the other DA members fighting with the Death Eaters in the last scene. I feel they replaced that with Ginny and Harry in the field.
I was looking forward to seeing at least one DADA class with Snape teaching and the comment from Ron about how Snape will be gone since he is now the DADA professor.
As you can tell by my post that I was not impressed with this movie at all. This movie should have been a lot darker and sinister with a little brevity mixed in. I did see the movie 3 times and enjoyed it but was not impressed with it. GOF was a lot darker then HBP even OOTP was darker. I don't see how you can go from 2 dark movies to what they produced with HBP. I now hope that when they do DH that they don't tone it down because if they do then I feel that they will have ruined a wonderful series. DH should include a lot of death and war not a lot of laughing and love sickness.

Yeah I feel Deathly Hallows will be the best one yet out of them all as it is in 2 parts so nothing should be rushed or missed out. I think they should indeed focus more on fighting and Lord Voldemolt. I didn't see him at all only in one flashback. I just hope DH ends with a high. They started filming in September last year and finish in April 2010. So gives them 19 months to film 2 parts. I just hope it's not ruined. I would watch HBP again on DVD. I am looking forward to the final film now. .

I checked out IMDB for information about the HBP and DH movies. It seems that they are possibly doing the funeral in the beginning of the DH movie number 1. It seems that they are on the right track with DH so far. I just don't see why more of the memories weren't shown. Or even more of Snape teaching DADA class, even if it was just once about the non verbal spells. It did say that the reason the fight at the end of HBP was shortened was because of the large fight that will be in DH, they felt it would be too repetitive to have to large fight scenes in the series so close together. I don't see how that would really matter when almost all the other movies have had a clamatic fight or confrontation at towards the end of the movie and it has always been with Harry and someone else. It would have been nice to see them fighting again to actually show how they do support Harry in his fight against evil.
It was also stated that the reason for the scene with the burrow being destroyed was so that it would be realized that no where was safe and that the fight scene with Harry and Ginny against Bella and the other DE was because there was no action scene in the middle of the movie and to also focus on the budding relationship between Harry and Ginny. That makes sense but anyone that has seen the other movies could see it from the very beginning and doesn't need to be reminded again. Plus you could tell by the way Harry looked at Ginny and hugged her when he first arrived at the Burrow in the beginning of the movie.
I can understand the reasoning behind their decision but I don't necessarily agree with it. The movie did grow on me after seeing it 3 times but I wasn't thrilled to really watch it again like I have been with the other movies. It is a cute movie just not what I expected.

Yeah i agree with you monica. In a way as a whole the Movie was good but not excellent like the other 5 have been. Even though i said in my first post it was worth eight month wait now i realise it was the eight month wait that ruined it and how they only fimed it within just 12 months. I think it has been edited quite alot. So that has runined it aswell. I was so looking forward to seeing this movie now i have seen it it was exactly spectacular. There will be the big fight scene with voldemolt and Harry which they have saved till now. I just hope thaat every scene that is filmed in both parts keep me gripped and wanting to know what happens next. HBP was just predictable in a way. Was just too much romance and not enough action going on.

Yeah. I love the book and had such high hopes for the movie. I loved seeing the romance blossom among them.
I loved Tom Felton in this movie. He was fantastic. He played his part so well. I loved that they kept the part on the train between him and Harry. I was just really hoping to see Tonks and not Luna find him. I think you and I are the only two that have seen the movie so far. I just can't wait to see what extras they put into the DVD.
I will be seeing the movie in IMAX with my daughter I will let you know if it is better in that format then the other way.

Aimee has seen the film aswell. She has prob forgot to come on hre and comment. I hate it when they just shorten things and change things that were in the books and not in the movies. The books go into real detail where as the films so far have just ruined that and cut things out or changed charactors to do things. My cousin is seeing it in IMAX today aswell. Yeah let me know if it is any better.

I let Aimee know about this thread. I have seen on Facebook how most people haven't been impressed with this movie. I will be surprised if this movie stays number 1 longer then 2 weeks.
A friend of mine from High School saw the movie this weekend and she posted on her FaceBook that she was disappointed in the movie. She did not like how they had changed Dumbldore's death and with Harry and Snape seeing each other before hand.

((SORRY!!! lol I forgot to check and see if this was up. tehehehe Thanks Mon))
I saw the midnight showing ((Kylie, Brittany and Me)) and for the most part I thought it was amazing. However... I dont think they made a big enough deal over the Half Blood Prince... I mean um... hello, kind of the title of the movie.
The Dumbledore scene was awesome. The part w/ the wands, thats when the water works hit me. When Dumbledore was falling I didnt cry, it wasnt until everyone started to lift their wands I cried.
I agree with you Mon, they should have shown the funeral and the whole Dursleys deal. I hate that they cut so much out and added so much in that wasnt there.

I enjoyed the scene in the cave. That was awesome. I just didn't like how they did the death scene. I feel that they toned it down way too much.
I cried when they did the wands. I can't remember if I cried when Severus did the AK curse and Dumbledore fell.
I did read that the reason they didn't include the fight scene at the end of this movie is because of the fight scenes in DH. The funeral I understand after reading the reasoning behind not doing it in this movie. Since the funeral would require having to have big name actors to show up for possibly one scene they would have had to pay a large sum of money to them. They are possibly planning to do the funeral at the beginning of the first DH movie.
Other wise the movie was good but I don't feel that it is the best HP movie to date.

I thought the acting was great especially from Alan Rickman. But too much was left out. I also wanted the fight scene!! I also it was tooo cutesy funny at times. What was the deal with Ron's helmet? Am i the only that has noticed a real chemistry with Daniel and Emma? I don't mean a romantic chemistry but it seems like they really couldn't function without the other. I've always noticed it and it seems more believable that Emma and Rupert. Maybe its the writing but when i see the movies i always think "yeah i get it Ron and Hermione are awkward around each other because they secretly like each other...Harry and Hermione just scream bonded like lost without each other can't stand to be apart kind of way." Just a thought.

I read an article online saying how they only delayed this movie by eight months due to sums of money. They thought they would get more money if they did it once school was over. (over here June/july). I also read which is a rumour tha they will leave part one of DH as a cliffhanger. This is a rumour they will cut off part 1 with the trio being caught by the snatchers. So part 2 will start with Malfoy's Manor.

Oh that sounds interesting about the cliffhanger.
I heard the same rumors about the money. I don't think this movie will make as much money as it could have. I have heard that we have to deal with the same director or producer for the last movies.
James, I agree that the acting was great. Alan Rickman always does a fantastic job. I think he could have had more screen time then what he got. I loved the Breakable Vow scene.
Now about the chemistry with Harry and Hermione, I think it is more of a family feeling with those two. They think of each other as family like brother and sister. Ron and Hermione have always had feelings for each other. I saw it in the second movie when Hermione was frozen. Her and Ron wouldn't hug because they were afraid of their feelings then.

Yeah I agree with you Monica about Harry, Hermione and Ron. I read online today that Bonnie Wright is prettier than Emma Watson. Bonnnie is only 18 and shes grown up into a pretty girl. Bonnie and Emma are great friends in real life. Bonnie went for the role of Ginny because her Older Brother Lewis told her she reminded him of Ginny. Bonnie is doing her A Levels. Bonnie said in an interview that they will probably give them antiwax for when they are suppose to be adults with children. The first three Harry Potter books were out before Bonnie was cast as Ginny Weasley. All the cast has really grown up into fine young Adults over the nine years.
